Intervention in Tribal Area of Pakistan

Omaha Rapid Response has started fruit trees project in the Tribal Area. President Ken Smith was invited by one of the tribal leader because he want to seek help for his village. Ken along with Chris Held, Waheed Alam and Muhammad Farid went to meet them. It was six hour drive from Mansehra. When we reached the area, there were more then 70 people waiting to welcome us. They fired with their Guns to celebrate and to welcome. They provided horses to ride for Ken and Chris. It took one hour to climbed the steep mountain leading to village of the tribe.
The Leader of the tribe had cooked a great meal for Omaha Rapid Response Team and for whole village. After the meal we had the meeting with people. The tribal people told us that they did not get any help from any other NGO since the earthquake 2005. Most of them are still living in temporary shelters . They Unanimously gave the request for a water supply line to their village. The water source is about 2 miles away from their village at a high altitude. So every day they get water from this source not for themselves only but also for their animals, and they are the only source of income. Omaha Rapid Response decided to start its work there by providing fruit trees because their were no fruit trees in whole village. So two thousands and one hundred fruits trees has been distributed so far in this village .
Omaha Rapid Response Pakistani Relief Worker Muhammad Aslam is in the area and giving training to the tribal people on how to plant the fruit trees correctly. Still more to come ……………..

Waheed Alam Director Pakistan.
